Jean Ball Announces Candidacy for Jefferson County Commissioner, Position 3

Jean Ball today announced her candidacy for Jefferson County Commissioner, Position 3,
bringing decades of civic leadership, business experience, and direct involvement in county
government.“Jefferson County faces real challenges with land use, infrastructure, and the rising cost of basic
services,” Ball said. “I’ve spent years working on these issues at the local level, and I’m ready to
bring experienced, practical leadership to the County Commission.”

Ball played a lead role in the successful 2025 campaign for Jefferson County’s Transportation
Benefit District. The measure was approved by voters with a strong supermajority and secured
long-term funding for road maintenance and critical infrastructure across the county.

Ball currently serves as the Vice President of the North Hood Canal Chamber of Commerce and
has served for eight years on the board of the Northwest Watershed Institute. She is an elected
Precinct Committee Officer and State Committee Representative for the Jefferson County
Democrats and has served nine years on Jefferson County’s Citizen Advisory Committee to the
Sheriff, where her advocacy helped to secure a dedicated deputy for South County.

In addition to her formal roles, Ball is active in hands-on community work, including wildfire
response efforts, holiday meal programs, Jefferson County Trash Task Force roadside cleanups
and illegal dumping projects, and helping organize the Brinnon Shrimp Festival.

A local business owner and skilled tradesperson, Ball has worked extensively with permitting,
property rights, and environmental regulations, and has served on boards and committees
overseeing budgets, grants, and infrastructure projects, including flood-risk mitigation work in
South County. That experience has prepared her to make difficult decisions, keep county
government focused on essential services, and understand the real challenges facing rural
workers, employers, and small businesses.

Ball said her campaign will focus on practical solutions and careful stewardship of public
resources to ensure Jefferson County remains a place where working families, small businesses,
and rural communities can thrive.

Focused on What Matters Most

Ball is running on three core priorities:
• Sustainable economic development that protects Jefferson County’s rural character and
environment
• Fiscally responsible government that directs public dollars toward essential services
• Thoughtful, accessible representation that listens to the entire district, from Port Ludlow to
Gardiner, Quilcene, Brinnon, and the West End communities.

Ball will be meeting with voters across the district in the coming months and plans to host a
series of community conversations throughout the county.
